Firearm Safety 2015
The Sons of the American Legion. Post 781, sponsored its fall hunter safety course on Saturday, October 3 at the Post home in Mountain Top. The course is mandatory to take and pass for anyone seeking a hunting license for the first time in the state of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game Commission holds its classes at various venues throughout the state.

The mandatory class is 8 hours long between the on line portion of the class and classroom instruction. Instructors are certified as well as certified hunters. All students have to register on-line at the PA Game Commission website and complete a portion of the class on line. Students are taught
to be responsible and ethical hunters, to know your firearm equipment including bows, how to be safe while hunting and how to keep others safe while you are hunting, hunting techniques and skills. when it is legal to hunt certain types of animals and much more. The class had approximately 40
students aged 11 and older who hope to get a junior or adult hunting license. There were breaks and one for lunch, which the SAL provided and prepared for everyone in attendance.
